On this week's snackable short, Shélah Larson embarked on something more personal to her experience in the film industry: Followers equal jobs.

On "Farewell" we challenged ourselves to take a character through an a complete emotional 180 in one short scene, on one long take, in one small space. We build a hospital scene on a budget of $150, rehearsed a few times, and shot 6 takes (we used take 5).

Jackie and Terry Bumbry are a mixed race couple who have a paranormal encounter with a bright light in the sky while driving near Mount Shasta. They report their experience to local law enforcement, who bring in a psychologist to assess the situation. But as Jackie tells her story to the doctor she comes to realize that there may be ulterior motives at play. Written and directed by Jay K. This is the very first piece I ever made. I was just beginning my journey into learning how to make films at Los Angeles City College (before USC) and one of my first film production classes had us go right into making our first short film. This is that short film.

Full Movie In Profile The Collyer brothers, Homer and Langley, were two reclusive siblings living in Harlem, New York, whose extreme hoarding turned their home into one of the most infamous cases of compulsive clutter in history. Born into a wealthy family, both were educated and talented—Homer a lawyer and Langley an engineer and pianist—but after their parents’ deaths, they withdrew completely from society. Over the years, Langley obsessively collected newspapers, furniture, scrap metal, and countless random objects, filling the house with maze-like tunnels and dangerous traps meant to keep intruders away. As Homer became blind and paralyzed due to illness, Langley took care of him, rarely leaving the house except at night to gather supplies. Their isolation worsened until the entire mansion became a fortress of debris. In 1947, police discovered Homer dead inside the clutter, and after almost two weeks of searching through tons of hoarded material, they found Langley’s body as well—crushed by one of his own booby traps while trying to reach his brother. Their tragic story became a symbol of extreme hoarding, inspiring the term “Collyer Mansion” to describe dangerously cluttered homes.

An assignment from at Tech School during my senior year of high school. We had to raise the frame rate to then slow down the footage in post. I ran into challenges with the ISO, as you can see issues with the lighting and some of the shots looking dark.
